Hello - Thank you for the prompt correspondance to our request for further information to assist in researching the possibility of retiring in Mexico.
My wife, Ginger, and I have been vacationing in Mexico for the past 15 years. We love the time we have been lucky enough to spend there. Of course, vacation living versus the real thing are two different animals. We've seen both coasts; though have not ventured too far inland due to our love of the ocean, and have gradually developed an affinity for the Pacific side. For the past couple of years, I've been tinkering with the idea of buying a place for a permanent vacation/retiement home. We are closing in on retirement. I must tell you though that Ginger is going to be a tough sell. Two weeks ago while we were vacationing in Nuevo Vallarta, I rented a car and drove to San Pancho, spent the day there and found the pace there to be what Playa Del Carman was 15 years ago. That fact, along with the amazing beach, and the beauty of the area made San Pancho a frontrunner .
Please take notice that only I made the trip, Ginger, my wife of 38 years, whom I love with all my heart, is not close to being sold on the Mexico transition. Becuse of that fact, she decided against taking the trip to San Pancho with me. Please do not get the wrong impression of Ginger. I know of no one that doesn't love her. She's Irish, stubborn as a mule, intelligent, with a conservative level-headedness about her - I have my work cut out for me. But I do feel that if she would just be willing to keeping an open mind, things could turn around there.
We have recently been blessed with our third grandchild, and are looking forward to the wedding of our youngest daughter in just two weeks! Exciting times for us! I feel that once the dust settles from those events she will be more open to discussion.
Ginger is 1 year away from retirement, while I am three. I feel that the present economy has made for an excellent buyer's market here in the USA. I'm not certain if that is true in Mexico also. Possibly you can help me there.
I tell you all this because I feel the more info you have about our situation, the easier it will be for to evaluate our situation in your efforts to assist us, specifically GInger, in our decision to purchase of a vacation/retirement home in Mexico.
Sorry for being longwinded. Thank you again for your prompt response. I look forward to hearing from you. In the meantime, I will get your book shipped here and bone up on making the transition. P.S. When I'm done with it , I'll put it on Ginger's nightstand. Thanks again Bob DeBias.

Hi Bob - Maybe if you also print out lots of my newsletters, and the blog section (Mexico Information Center) especially the comments of people living in Mexico, and lay that beside her bedside too? From a stubborn partial Irisher :)

Barbie, already own a home in San Miguel de Allende and have for three years. I just got back from there today

My gardenia bushes have now turned in to gardenia trees. I had my pool cleaned, painted and retiled while I was there.

I love San MIguel so you don't have to sell me on it any more.
